NEET: 485 UG, 247 PG medical seats vacant in 2023, Minister tells Rajya Sabha
As per the data provided by the National Medical Commission (NMC), a total number of 485 Undergraduate (UG- MBBS) and 247 Postgraduate (PG) Medical seats ( that is MS, MD and DNB seats) under the All India Quota have gone vacant for this academic year, the Union Minister of State for Health, Dr. Bharati Pravin Pawar informed the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
While informing about the vacant medical seats, the MoS Health further referred to the measures taken by the Health Ministry to fill up the vacant seats- including reducing the cut-off to zero percentile and conducting special stray vacancy rounds for PG counselling.

Controversy: Apollo Hospital embroiled in illegal kidney racket accusations, denies all claims
The name of Apollo Hospitals has been embroiled in controversy after London-based newspaper 'The Telegraph' alleged the involvement of the hospital in illegal 'cash for kidney racket' scam.
According to the Daily, the hospital allegedly purchases kidneys from poor people in Myanmar illegally and sells their organs for profit to rich Burmese patients.
Even though it is illegal in India to pay for organs, one of the agents involved in the racket allegedly told an undercover Telegraph reporter that "it's big business".

Dirty toilets, infra lapses: Delhi Mayor orders suspension of Hindu Rao Hospital Medical Superintendent
Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi ordered the suspension of the medical superintendent of MCD's Hindu Rao Hospital over alleged infrastructural irregularities at the facility, officials said on Monday.
The Mayor's office stated in a media release, "On a surprise inspection of MCD-run Hindu Rao Hospital earlier today, Mayor Shelly Oberoi ordered the suspension of the Medical Superintendent over financial and administrative irregularities and lack of hygiene."
