OTT programmes to carry anti-tobacco warnings: Health Ministry
On World No Tobacco Day, the Union health ministry on Wednesday notified the amended rules under the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2004, making it mandatory for OTT platforms to display anti-tobacco warnings as are seen in movies screened in theatres and TV programs.
According to the notification, publishers of online curated content displaying tobacco products or their use will be required to display anti-tobacco health spots each of a minimum of 30 seconds at the beginning and middle of the program.

Ban imposed on admissions at Faridabad Medical College for current academic year
In a major setback to Faridabad-based Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government Medical College, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has disapproved the proposal for the first renewal and permission to the medical college for this academic year.
With this, the college has lost permission from the Apex medical education regulatory body for admitting the 2nd batch of MBBS students in 100 seats for the academic year 2023-2024.

Almond milk yogurt more nutritious than dairy-based yogurt
Recent study comparing the nutritional profile and nutrient density of commercially available plant-based and dairy yogurts showed almond milk yogurt to be on top. The study was published in Frontiers in Nutrition on 25 May 2023.
“Plant-based yogurts overall have less total sugar, less sodium and more fiber than dairy, but they have less protein, calcium and potassium than dairy yogurt,” says lead author Astrid D’Andrea, a graduating senior whose paper was published May 25 in a special issue of the journal Frontiers in Nutrition titled Food of the Future: Meat and Dairy Alternatives. “But when looking at the overall nutrient density, comparing dairy yogurt to plant-based yogurt, with the nutrients that we looked at, almond yogurt has a significantly higher nutrient density than dairy yogurt and all other plant-based yogurts.”
