KIMS doctors remove 12 Kg polycystic liver from 50-year-old woman
A liver weighing 12 kg is too preposterous a thought and hard to believe even by the best of medical brains. And if the patient is a woman with polycystic liver and kidney disease, then saving her life will present itself as a major challenge for surgeons.
A miracle, by way of simultaneous liver and kidney transplantations, was performed by a team of reputed surgeons, including three liver transplant surgeons and a kidney transplant surgeon, in the first week of November at KIMS Hospitals in Hyderabad.

Treat patients first before initiating hospital admission process: Mamata Banerjee
Expressing displeasure over medical services provided at state-run IPGME&R and SSKM Hospital, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee asked doctors to treat patients first before initiating the admission process.Banerjee, who went straight to the hospital after returning from New Delhi on Thursday evening, also took exception to the practice of doctors referring patients to other hospitals.

Eighteen new AIIMS reeling under severe faculty shortage- up to 78 percent posts vacant, reveals Health Ministry data
The recent data by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has revealed that the eighteen new AIIMS are struggling with severe shortage of faculty with an aggregate of around 44 percent posts of faculties are lying vacant in these institutes.
In the newly constituted All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), altogether 4,026 posts have been sanctioned, whereas only 2,259 posts of faculties have been filled in these institutes.

Researchers found in this study that included 10,775 adults from an ethnically diverse sample that a higher percentage of daily energy consumption of ultraprocessed foods was associated with cognitive decline. These findings support current public health recommendations on limiting ultraprocessed food consumption because of their potential harm to cognitive function.
