IMA Kerala owes Rs. 50 crore, GST department informs High Court
The Kerala chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has Rs 50 crore GST due, the Directorate General of Goods and Services Tax Intelligence (DGGI) recently informed the High Court.
Submitting an affidavit, the regional director of DGGI Kozhikode, S Syam Nath informed the Court that an investigation revealed that IMA Kerala has acquired Rs 280 crores in the last six years through various schemes.
It was further stated that responding to the letter by the GST Department, the association had acknowledged its tax debt. However, no payment was made by the IMA Kerala Chapter.

Bengaluru man arrested for marrying 15 women posing as engineer and doctor
A 35-year-old man who married 15 women since 2014 by posing as an engineer and doctor most of the time was arrested by Mysuru city police on Saturday. He used matrimonial websites to set the trap. for the women. The man is a resident of Banashankari in Bengaluru.
Sources said that out of 15 women married to the man, four have children from him, as per the TOI report.
NEET eligibility criteria: HC issues notice to DU, GGGSIPU on plea seeking Delhi residence criteria for claiming state quota seats
While considering a plea that challenged the eligibility criteria for the NEET-UG state quota seats in medical colleges affiliated with the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) and Delhi University (DU), the Delhi High Court has issued notice and sought the responses from the concerned Universities and the State Government.
Further, the HC bench of Justice Purushaindra Kumar Kaurav has also issued notice to the Directorate General Health Services and asked all of them to file their replies within two weeks.
The plea filed by a National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) aspirant sought inclusion of the criteria of residence as one of the mandatory eligibility criteria for students to claim the State quota MBBS and BDS seats. The matter has been listed for further hearing on August 7, 2023.

Leaving bond service midway: Rs 40 lakh penalty set for MD, MS, MDS doctors, Rs 20 lakh for PG Diploma in Tamil Nadu
Service and Non-Service Candidates taking admission into Postgraduate Medical Degree, Diploma, and MDS Courses in the Government medical and dental colleges and government seats in self-financing institutes will have to execute a bond of Rs 40 lakh to Rs 20 lakh at the time of their admission. For PG degree courses, candidates will have to sign a bond of Rs 40 lakh and for PG Diploma Rs 20 lakh.
Releasing the prospectus for admission to PG Medical Degree/Diploma and MDS courses, the State Directorate of Medical Education and Research has specified details about the admission including application fee, security deposit, eligibility criteria, process of filling and submitting application, salary or stipend paid to the students, etc.
