NMC to abolish age limit of 45 years prescribed for senior residents

In a move that will bring relief to thousands of doctors wanting to start their career in the field of medical education, the National Medical Commission (NMC) might soon do away with the age limit of 45 years prescribed for the initial appointment of the Senior Residents.

Confirmation of this comes from the minutes of the meeting held by the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of NMC earlier this year, a copy of which is with Medical Dialogues team.

Confusion prevails over conduction of National Exit Test- NEXT exam medicos continue Protest

Medical students across the country are still not clear regarding the conduction of the National Exit Test (NExT) and especially about the way of implementation and the applicability of the examination.

This lack of clarity is due to the fact that while the National Medical Commission (NMC) had earlier announced that the exam shall be conducted by AIIMS Delhi in 2024 for the final year MBBS batch, in a viral video of an event at AIIMS Raipur, the Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was heard contradicting this announcement.

AIIMS Officers' Association extends support to scientists protesting proposal to limit years for project

Following a recent guideline by All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi which limited the number of years a scientist or research scholar can be employed in projects at the premier medical institute, the Officers' Association of the Institute extended its support to the scientists who are currently protesting against the proposal.

According to the Society of Young Scientists (SYS), the proposed guidelines cap the number of projects a researcher can take up to three, which they allege is expected to lead to the immediate termination of around 1,400 employees, including researchers and technical staff employed in various projects at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).

Doctor reveals how a patient cheated him with Rs 500 'Children Bank of India' fake note

An orthopaedic surgeon has recently been cheated by a patient who paid his fee through a Rs 500 'Children Bank of India' fake note. While sharing this incident on Meta's Thread, Dr Manan Vora said,

"Recently, a patient actually made a cash payment for a consultation using this note. My receptionist didn’t end up checking it (coz frankly you don’t expect this, right?) but it goes to show the lengths people would go to, even if it means conning a doctor."

"I refuse to believe they didn’t know about it either and just passed it along haan. Anyway, I had a good laugh and I’ve saved this note with me since it’s a fun memory, even though I have been robbed off of ₹500," Dr Manan further added.
