NMC gives deadline to FMGE candidates applying for eligibility certificate
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has invited online applications from FMGE candidates for the eligibility certificate that needs to be mandatorily submitted for the screening test conducted by the NBE.
The notification to this effect issued under the authority of Dr Vijaya Lakshmi Nag, Member of the Ethics and Medical Registration Board of the NMC, calls for applications from FMGE aspirants seeking eligibility certificates for the forthcoming session and has specified the deadline.

Doctors can refuse to treat unruly patients, those patients who don't pay displayed fees - NMC notifies new code of conduct
Over a year after putting its draft code of conduct in the public domain, the National Medical Commission (NMC), finally, through a gazette notification, has notified the NMC Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations 2023. These regulations prescribe a code of ethics mandatorily to be adopted by every practitioner of modern medicine who is registered under the NMC Act and is practising in the country.
The National Medical Commission Registered Medical Practitioner RMP (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2023 will replace the erstwhile Medical Council of India MCI’s Code of Medical Ethics 2002. These new regulations have been enforceable since August 2nd 2023, the date of its publication in the official gazette.

Sexual assault victim to be taken to hospital within 24 hours of order on pregnancy termination: HC
In light of the failure to preserve a victim's rape evidence, the Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled that rape victims must be taken to hospitals for Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTP) within 24 hours even if she is less than 20 weeks pregnant.
This landmark decision emerged while denying the bail application of a man accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old minor girl. The Court found the accused had repeatedly raped the young girl, leading to her pregnancy. Despite being admitted to a hospital on several occasions, she experienced a spontaneous abortion at home, which prevented the preservation of crucial evidence due to lapses in medical records.

Delhi HC Issues Directions To Doctors, Police While Dealing With Rape Victims
Celebrities and influencers mandated to include disclaimers while endorsing health, wellness products
The Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, has released Additional Guidelines for celebrities, influencers and virtual influencers in the field of health and wellness.
The additional guidelines aim to deal with misleading advertisements, unsubstantiated claims and ensure transparency in health and wellness endorsements. Under the guidelines, certified medical practitioners and health & fitness experts holding certifications from recognized institutions when sharing information, promoting products or services or making any health-related claims, must disclose that they are certified health/fitness experts and medical practitioners.
