MBBS Student's Admission Suspended at Patna Medical College in NEET Impersonation Case
In the latest update in the NEET UG 2026 re-examination impersonation scam, the admission of an MBBS student accused of appearing as a 'solver' in the examination has been suspended by the Patna Medical College and Hospital.
While the suspension is temporary, the college administration made it clear that if the allegations against the student are found to be accurate during the investigation, the administration will permanently cancel his admission. Along with this, the college administration has cancelled the Hostel allotment.

Doctor's Prescription Now Mandatory for High-Alcohol Medicines, Health Ministry Announces
Aiming to curb the misuse of medicinal products with high alcohol content, the Union Government has introduced an amendment to the Drug Rules, 1945, under which the existing exemption (under Schedule K) from licensing requirements for formulations containing ethyl alcohol has been removed.
According to the recent Gazette notification dated 08.07.2026, these products have been shifted to Schedule H1 of the Drugs Rules, 1945, making a registered medical practitioner's prescription mandatory for these products containing more than 12% v/v ethyl alcohol.

DSCI Launches Brachytherapy Services to Expand Advanced Cancer Radiation Treatment
Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI) has launched brachytherapy services, expanding its advanced cancer treatment facilities with the successful completion of its first procedure on July 9, followed by the formal rollout of the service on July 10. Brachytherapy is a specialised form of radiation therapy in which a radioactive source is placed inside or near the tumour, allowing high-dose radiation to target cancer cells while minimising damage to surrounding healthy tissue. The treatment is particularly effective for cancers of the cervix, endometrium and certain other malignancies.
DSCI said the service will be provided by a multidisciplinary team of radiation oncologists, medical physicists, radiation technologists, anaesthesiologists and nursing staff to ensure safe and precise treatment. Institute officials described the launch as a major milestone that will enable patients to receive comprehensive cancer care under one roof without referrals to other centres. The Institute has also recently strengthened its healthcare infrastructure by starting Dental OPD services on June 23 and operationalising a second operation theatre on June 18, further improving access to specialised medical services for patients.
