Alert after two H3N2 deaths, one in Haryana
Union Health Ministry is keeping a close watch on the Seasonal Influenza situation in various States/UTs through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) network on a real-time basis.
The Ministry is also tracking and keeping a close watch on morbidity and mortality due to the H3N2 subtype of seasonal Influenza. Young children and old age persons with co-morbidities are the most vulnerable groups in the context of seasonal influenza. So far, Karnataka and Haryana have confirmed one death each from H3N2 influenza.

Private hospitals in WB cannot charge for followup consultation for 15 days post primary consultation, says new order
In a major decision, the West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has directed the hospitals that no extra consultation charge will be levied for the period upto 15 days from the date of primary consultation for showing test reports prescribed by the doctor in Outpatient department (OPD).
This came after the commission noted that OPD patients in Clinical Establishments previously used to get 7 (seven) days time to show the report/results of the investigations to the consultant / treating doctor, noting that this was unfair on the patients.

Doctors remove vodka bottle from man's stomach in Nepal, 1 arrested: Report
A man in Nepal had to undergo surgery for the removal of a Vodka bottle from his stomach, as reported by PTI. The Vodka bottle was found during a medical check-up after the patient complained of severe abdominal pain.
Cardiologist attacked while police present at hospital: Kerala HC terms it tragic, seeks investigation report
Taking cognisance of the recent attack on a Senior Cardiologist in Calicut, the division bench of Kerala High Court termed the incident as "tragic".
Further taking note of the submission that the Cardiologist had been attacked when Police were present in the hospital, the HC bench observed, "If this is true, then it cannot be countenanced by us in any manner."
With this observation, the HC bench has directed the Commissioner of Police, Calicut city to file a detailed report under his own name, before the court by the next posting date.
