NMC Issues Advisory on Reporting Student Suicides, Strengthening Mental Health Support
In compliance with the Supreme Court directive on the National Task Force, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has asked all medical colleges and institutions under its jurisdiction to take immediate steps to address student mental health concerns and prevent suicides on campuses.
Issuing a public notice in this regard, the policy and coordination division of NMC issued mandatory advisories to the Additional Chief Secretaries/Principal Secretaries/Secretaries, Department and Directors of Medical Education of all States/Union Territories and Deans/Principals/Directors of all medical colleges/institutions under the domain of the apex Medical Commission for strict compliance.

783 PG Seats Vacant in Karnataka After NEET PG Counselling Due to High Fees
After the completion of postgraduate medical admission counselling conducted by the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA), 783 seats out of the 4,773 available PG medical seats in Karnataka have reportedly remained vacant.
This year, nearly 14,400 candidates registered for the counselling, and over 10,000 students filled their choices for PG medical courses through KEA, as per TOI media report.

HC Upholds Cumulative PG Residency, Dismisses AIIMS Delhi Plea in DM Critical Care Medicine Admission Row
Upholding a single bench order that had set aside the cancellation of a doctor's candidature for admission to the DM Critical Care Medicine course at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), the Division Bench of the Delhi High Court dismissed the appeal filed by AIIMS.
Holding that his post-MD senior residency experience should be counted while calculating the required training period, the Bench led by Chief Justice Devendra Kumar Upadhyaya and Justice Tejas Karia refused to interfere with the earlier order that had quashed the cancellation of his admission.

Kerala HC Directs Medical Aid, Free Education for 9-year-old Girl in Alleged Negligence Case
The Kerala High Court has directed the state government to provide long-term medical care and free education to a nine-year-old girl whose right hand had to be amputated following alleged medical negligence at the government district hospital, Palakkad
The court ordered the state government to cover the child’s medical expenses and educational costs until she turns 21. The bench observed that the girl, who comes from a financially backward family, was a victim of serious medical negligence during treatment at the district hospital in Palakkad. She had initially been brought to the hospital after suffering two fractures in her hand.
