Doctors have to deal with life, merit cannot be disregarded: SC denies NEET SS 2021 cut-off reduction
Observing that the question of reducing cutoff percentile is an academic policy matter, the Supreme Court on Monday refused to entertain a plea seeking reduction in NEET-SS Cutoff Percentile and thereby disregard merit.
Such a decision was taken by the top court bench comprising of Justices DY Chandrachud and Surya Kant as it took note of the fact that even though there were enough candidates for filling up the vacant seats, the authorities decided not to lower the percentile as it did not compromise the merit.

Supreme Court to hear plea seeking postponement of NEET-PG 2022 exam on May 13
The Apex Court has given its nod for considering a plea seeking postponement of National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test for Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022 examination on Tuesday.
Several doctors filed the plea before the top court bench comprising of Justices DY Chandrachud and PS Narasimha, which is likely to hear the plea on May 13.

Two babies die at private hospital due to medical negligence
Two newborn babies died at a private hospital on Tuesday allegedly due to medical negligence after they were "kept in incubators" in the health facility, according to their family members.
The incident was reported at KAM Multi-speciality Hospital at Falaknuma in the Old City area of Hyderabad, reports TNIE.

Abbott launches solution to detect Hepatitis B virus
Global healthcare leader Abbott has announced the launch of the HBsAg Next Qualitative solution in India to enhance detection of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV).
This assay will help improve patient outcomes while maintaining safe blood supplies. This highly sensitive chemiluminescent microparticle immunoassay (CMIA) assists in the early and enhanced detection of HBV in human serum and plasma (blood) samples and in population screening. A chemiluminescent immunoassay is a variation of the standard enzyme immunoassay, a biochemical technique used in immunology.
