24/7 tele-platform launched for mental health services
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has launched the 24/7 Tele Mental Health Assistance and Networking Across States (Tele-MANAS) on the occasion of World Mental Health Day. Tele-MANAS aims to provide free tele-mental health services all over the country round the clock, particularly catering to people in remote or under-served areas.
A toll-free, 24/7 helpline number (14416) has been set up across the country, allowing callers to select the language of choice for availing services. Service is also accessible with 1-800-91-4416. The calls would be routed to Tele-MANAS cells in the respective state and union territory.

Karnataka HC slams 2 dental colleges over Speculative litigations for non-admitted BDS aspirants, each fined Rs 1 Lakh
Slamming the practice of "Speculative Litigations", the Karnataka High Court bench at Bengaluru recently imposed Rs 2 lakh penalty on two dental colleges of the State for wasting the precious time of the Court as they filed speculative petitions before the Court on behalf of some BDS aspirants who failed to secure admission for the year 2021-2022.
Therefore, the bench comprising of Justice B Veerappa and Justice K.S.Hemalekha has directed those two dental colleges- Venkateshwara Dental College and Hospital and KVG Dental College & Hospital for depositing the amount within one month.

GMC Kozhikode doctors under scanner after mosquito artery forceps removed from patient's abdomen, 5 years after original procedure
5 years after performing a c-section on a patient, doctors associated with the prestigious Government Medical College Kozhikode (GMC Kozhikode) have found themselves under the scanner, after a "mosquito artery forceps" was recently removed from the stomach of the patient. While the hospital doctors have denied any missing forceps after the surgery 5 years ago, drawing attention to the patient's earlier surgeries, the state Health Minister Veena George has now ordered an inquiry into the matter.
A 30-year-old patient has filed a complaint against Government Medical College doctors, here for leaving forceps inside her abdomen after a caesarean five years ago. Health Minister Veena George has ordered an inquiry and asked the Health Secretary to submit a report soon.
