PG medico murder at RG Kar Medical College sparks nationwide doctor protests
As doctors across the country have come out on the streets demanding justice for the PG medico who was brutally raped and murdered in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College, police have come out with the arrest of the prime suspect, Sanjay Roy.
The arrest followed the discovery of a crucial piece of evidence—a Bluetooth device left at the crime scene. This small but vital clue played a pivotal role in leading investigators to Roy. Detailed forensic analysis linked the device to Roy, who had been observed in CCTV footage near the seminar hall around the time of the crime. Roy was arrested on Saturday and was sent to 14-day police custody. He confessed to the crime

NMC approves 50 MBBS seats each for two new medical colleges in Maharashtra
The MBBS intake capacity in Maharashtra has increased further as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has given its approval for two more new medical colleges in the State for 50 MBBS seats each.
Among the two medical colleges that received the Apex Medical Commission's nod, one is a government-run medical college in Nashik and the other one is a private medical institute in Aurangabad.

TN doctors oppose posting non-service postgraduates as assistant surgeons
The Tamil Nadu Government's order posting the non-service postgraduate (NSPGs) candidates as assistant surgeons in government medical colleges, ahead of the service doctors and PGs, has upset a section of government doctors in the State.
Demanding that the Government order be withdrawn, the doctors' associations in the State have warned the authorities to boycott hospital duties in protest of the decision.
