Overview
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has inaugurated a 650-bedded facility at the Saheed Laxman Nayak Medical College and Hospital (SLNMCH) in Koraput district. The facility was built at a cost of Rs 280 crore.
CM Majhi asserted that his government has prioritised qualitative growth in the healthcare and education sectors since assuming power in the state, said government officials on Sunday.

NMC calls HC order on FMG registration as 'arbitrary relaxation'; Andhra Medical Council seeks review
Filing a review petition before the Andhra Pradesh High Court, the State Medical Council has sought more time and clarification regarding the two verdicts delivered by the High Court, granting permanent registration to foreign medical graduates.
This comes after issuing a seven-page clarification to Andhra Pradesh Medical Council (APMC), the National Medical Commission (NMC) highlighted the importance of physical study of clinical courses by the FMGs in their respective foreign medical institutes and mentioned that it cannot be substituted by online study.

Hyderabad baby-selling racket expands; 2 more doctors arrested
The illegal surrogacy and baby-selling racket linked to Universal Srushti Fertility Centre in Secunderabad is getting bigger and more complicated with every passing day. Hyderabad police have now arrested two more doctors from King George Hospital (KGH) in Visakhapatnam for their alleged role in the case.
The accused- Dr Vasupalli Ravi, head of anaesthesiology, and Dr Usha Devi, associate professor in gynaecology at KGH, were arrested for their alleged links with Dr A. Namratha, the prime accused in the case.

5 Patients Lose Vision after Cataract Surgery; Maharashtra Medical Council probes 2 Ophthalmologists
Taking cognisance of the alleged medical negligence case in which five patients developed severe eye infections and lost their vision after undergoing cataract surgeries at a prominent eye hospital in Navi Mumbai, the Maharashtra Medical Council has initiated an inquiry against the two ophthalmologists accused in the case.
In this regard, the council has asked the doctors to provide clarification and will soon summon them for a hearing to present their statements on the alleged medical negligence. The council has also sought an explanation from the private facility involved — Dr. Pandit Eye Hospital, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.
