Overview
In the wake of the NEET UG 2026 paper leak controversy, members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare have suggested conducting the medical entrance examination multiple times a year to reduce stress on students and prevent them from losing an entire academic year due to circumstances beyond their control.
NEET-UG, India's largest medical entrance examination, is at present conducted once a year in a single sitting. The examination held on May 3 this year was cancelled following allegations of a paper leak.

Cockroach Janta Party Launches Nationwide Protest Over NEET UG Paper Leak Controversy
Amid the ongoing controversy over the NEET-UG 2026 examination and allegations of irregularities in the country's examination system, the Cockroach Janta Party has launched a nationwide protest campaign demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The campaign began in Pune on June 11 and will travel to several cities, including Lucknow, Amritsar, Bengaluru, Jaipur, and Hyderabad. Organisers say the movement aims to highlight the concerns of students and job aspirants affected by recurring examination-related controversies and demand greater accountability in the education sector, according to DNA news report.
The group, which first emerged as a meme-driven online initiative in May, has since evolved into a grassroots protest movement. It gained wider attention during a demonstration at Jantar Mantar on June 6, where participants raised concerns about examination transparency and governance. According to the organisers, founder Abhijeet Dipke has said that climate activist Sonam Wangchuk is expected to join supporters during the Pune protest. The organisation has also announced plans for a larger gathering at Jantar Mantar on June 20 if its demands remain unmet, while maintaining that all demonstrations will be peaceful.

China Highlights Smooth Conduct of Gaokao Amid India's Ongoing NEET Exam Controversy
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the NEET UG 2026 paper leak, China appeared to take a swipe at India's examination system by highlighting the smooth conduct of its national college entrance examination, Gaokao.
In a post on X, Yu Jing said that China's Gaokao—often compared to India's JEE and NEET combined—was conducted smoothly for nearly 1.3 crore students in just two days, adding that factories paused operations and roads were quietened to support candidates. The remarks came as India prepares for the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 after the National Testing Agency cancelled the May 3 exam following allegations of a paper leak, reports The Print.
However, Gaokao has also faced its own controversies over the years. According to reports, the examination has previously witnessed cheating incidents, paper leak allegations, and widespread exam-related scams involving fake leaked papers. Chinese authorities have repeatedly warned students and parents against fraudsters exploiting the high-stakes examination. The intense academic pressure surrounding Gaokao has also drawn criticism, with studies reporting a rise in mental health issues among students after the examination.
