NEET-UG Re Exam: Centre Deploys CRPF, CISF for Two-Tier Security
Ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, the Ministry of Home Affairs has ordered the deployment of personnel from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to implement a two-layer security system for the transportation of question papers and OMR answer sheets. The re-examination was announced after the May 3 test was cancelled over allegations of a paper leak and other irregularities.
The enhanced security, requested by the National Testing Agency (NTA), will cover the entire transportation chain, including origin hubs in Ahmedabad and Hyderabad, airports, helipads and other critical transit points. CAPF personnel will also accompany consignments during air transport, while OMR sheets will receive similar protection during their return journey after the examination, according to The Print.
The Centre has also decided to deploy the Indian Air Force for the secure transportation of question papers to designated hub locations. According to the MHA order, 15 major cities will be covered through primary air routes, while 85 additional cities and 34 towns will receive papers through secondary routes and helicopter services. CAPF personnel carrying service weapons will deposit them before boarding aircraft and collect them after landing, as per IAF protocols. To ensure seamless coordination, the MHA has directed the CRPF and CISF headquarters to appoint nodal officers for communication throughout the transportation and examination process.
Centre Warns of Strict Legal Action Against Attempts to Disrupt NEET Re-Examination
Ahead of the NEET UG 2026 re-examination on June 21, the Central government has issued a stern warning that strict legal action will be taken against anyone attempting to disrupt or compromise the examination process. The warning came after T. V. Somanathan reviewed the preparedness for the re-exam with National Testing Agency Director General Abhishek Singh. Stressing the need for a transparent and secure examination, Somanathan said the Centre, state governments and district administrations are working in close coordination to ensure the smooth conduct of the test. "
The Cabinet Secretary has held multiple review meetings with Union ministries, state chief secretaries and concerned agencies to strengthen preparedness and coordination. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Home Affairs has directed the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) to provide security during the transportation of question papers, reports TNIE.
Earlier, Dharmendra Pradhan also assured candidates that additional safeguards have been introduced at every stage, from question paper preparation to delivery at examination centres, while several states have already conducted high-level review meetings involving chief secretaries, district collectors and senior police officials to ensure error-free conduct of the re-examination.
