Breach of duty in providing medical advice: Consumer Court Directs Nephrologist, Hospital to pay Rs 3 lakh compensation
Observing that active systemic infections are potential reasons for excluding transplant recipients, the Telangana State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission recently directed a Nephrologist to pay Rs 3 lakh to the parents of a diseased patient suffering from 'Vesicoureteral Reflux Nephropathy'.
Such a direction came from the State consumer court as it opined that the advice of the treating doctor for a kidney transplant was lacking in strength and as the patient was very vulnerable and indications that he was not a candidate for transplant surgery are not ruled out, such an advice of transplant was wrong.

Doctors, Hospitals, Laboratories need to get registered with Ayushman Bharat registries: Central Government tells its facilities
The Union Health Ministry has asked all government departments and facilities like hospitals, laboratories and pharmacies and also their doctors to get enlisted on the dedicated registries under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission.
In a letter to secretaries of all central departments and directors of all central hospitals, Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan advised government health facilities to procure and install a Health/Hospital Information Management System (HMIS), also known as Hospital Information System (HIS), at their facilities for generating digital health records.

Phase 3 data shows Covaxin 77.8 percent effective against Covid-19, says Lancet
Bharat Biotech has recently announced that the safety and efficacy analysis data from Phase III clinical trials of COVAXIN is peer reviewed and published in The Lancet.
The Lancet peer-review confirms the efficacy analysis which demonstrates COVAXIN to be effective against COVID-19. COVAXIN is the only COVID-19 vaccine to have demonstrated efficacy data from phase III clinical trials against the delta variant at 65.2%.
