IMA and Hospital Board of India issue advisory on 'Cashless Everywhere'

The Indian Medical Association (IMA) and Hospital Board of India (HBI) have jointly released an advisory regarding the 'Cashless Everywhere' program initiated by the General Insurance Corporation (GIC), voicing the medical sector's apprehensions about its vague details and potential effects. The announcement, made by Dr. AK Ravikumar, head of IMA HBI HORS, pointed out the program's launch without fully resolving the IMA HBI's issues, particularly the lack of precise guidelines for its execution.

Alaskapox Virus: The first fatal case in Alaska unravelled

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the world has been on high alert for emerging viral threats, and one such virus making headlines is Alaskapox. Recently, Alaska health authorities announced the state's first fatality due to this newly identified viral disease, marking a concerning development. An elderly man with a compromised immune system, residing on the Kenai Peninsula south of Anchorage, succumbed to Alaskapox in late January while receiving medical treatment. This case is notably rare, being just one of seven reported infections of Alaskapox, according to the Alaska Department of Public Health.

Alleged ragging at MKCG Medical College: MBBS student alleges harassment by seniors

A first year MBBS student has levelled allegations of ragging against his seniors at the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur in Odisha's Ganjam district.

The matter came to light after the father of the MBBS student complained before the anti-ragging cell accusing two of his son’s seniors of beating him up inside the campus late Friday evening, reports PTI.
