Fee hike from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 13 lakh, internships on hold: SGRR MBBS students on protest
Raising their voice against the decision of the management to increase the fees suddenly and put the MBBS internship on hold, the final year medicos of Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dehradun have initiated a protest since Monday.
The authorities have increased the fees from Rs 5 lakhs per annum to Rs 13 lakhs per annum, which is around 150 percent fee hike, one of the protesting students of 2018 batch informed Medical Dialogues, adding that they are also going to approach the High Court and file a plea in this regard.

Faculty shortage: NMC serves notice to two GMCs in Maharashtra over non-compliance
Taking cognisance of the shortage of faculty, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently issued non-compliance notices to two government medical colleges in Maharashtra.
The two medical colleges who have received notice from the apex medical education regulatory body for not having adequate number of teaching staff include the recently set up government medical college in Osmanabad and a proposed college at Parbhani. NMC issued the notices after conducting an inspection recently at those two medical colleges.

Surgeon, UP hospital told to pay Rs 50 lakh compensation over wrong diagnosis, treatment of breast cancer patient
Holding that there was negligence at the primitive level, the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Uttar Pradesh has directed Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital in Prayagraj to pay a fine of Rs 50 lakh to the kin of a breast cancer patient who eventually died due to alleged wrong diagnosis and treatment.
Commission members justice Rajendra Singh, and justice Sushil Kumar observed that the concerned doctor failed to diagnose the breast cancer and due to his negligence and carelessness, medicines were given for another disease (Filaria) for a long time. Meanwhile, the cancer cells continued to increase which ultimately caused the death of the patient.

NMC nod for 100 MBBS seats in Nalbari Medical College
Bringing good news to the medical aspirants in Assam, the National Medical Commission has given its approval for 100 MBBS Seats in Nalbari Medical College and Hospital.
After assessing the infrastructural facilities of the medical college, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of NMC has given permission to the medical college to admit MBBS students from the academic year 2023-2024.
