NBE invites applications from hospitals seeking accreditation for post-MBBS 2-year diploma courses January, February cycle 2024
The National Board of Examinations (NBE) has released the information bulletin and application form for Post MBBS Diploma courses (January / February 2024 Cycle- For Admission session 2025).
The last date for online submission of the application form is 15-03-2024. The last date for receipt of the hard copy of the application form at the NBEMS Office is 29-03-2024. Applications are invited from the hospitals for seeking accreditation with NBEMS for Post MBBS two-year Diploma courses in the above 09 Broad Specialty programs. The hospitals/institutions willing to run these courses can apply for Accreditation with NBEMS.

Ministry official states that they can't specify the daily working hours of doctors
Considering the heavy patient load in the medical college hospitals across the country, there cannot be set a daily working hours limit for the resident doctors, stated a senior Health Ministry official.
Speaking to Education Times, the official referred to the provision of paid leaves, and weekly offs in the newly released Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations (PGMER), 2023, and said that the concerned Head of the Departments in medical colleges will have to ensure that the doctors do not get exhausted due to work, nor should the lives of patients be put at stake.

Foundation stone of new medical college and hospital laid in Panchkula, 100 MBBS seats to be added
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Monday laid the foundation stone of a medical college and hospital in Panchkula, which will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 800 crore.
Khattar said the medical college and hospital, to be constructed over 30 acres of land at Sector 32 in Panchkula by the Haryana Shahri Vikas Pradhikarn (HSVP), would be named after Dr Mangal Sen.

In a landmark case, a patient slapped compensation for dragging a psychiatrist to consumer court with a malicious complaint
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Palakkad recently dismissed a consumer complaint against a psychiatrist, accused of violating doctor-patient confidentiality.
Further, the District Consumer Court has slapped a compensation of Rs 25,000 on the complainant (patient) and directed her to pay the amount to the concerned doctor for filing a malicious complaint.
