The National Medical Commission (NMC) has released a list of newly sanctioned seats and increases across private deemed universities in India for the academic year 2025-26.
According to the official public notice, the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) has stated that the update follows the approval of new and increased PG seats in various medical colleges across the country. The comprehensive list has been made available for reference to all stakeholders, including institutions, parents, and students participating in the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2025 admission process for the academic year 2025.

NMC revokes licenses of doctors linked to Red Fort blast case
Taking strict cognisance of the reported involvement of accused doctors in the Red Fort Blast case, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has cancelled their licenses.
According to a recent notification issued by the NMC in this regard, the apex medical commission has removed the names of 4 doctors from the National Medical Register after they were charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act following the Delhi blast.
Following this, these doctors will not be allowed to practice medicine or to hold any appointment as a medical practitioner till further orders from the commission.

RTI reveals no duty records for ICU at Mumbai’s St George Hospital
A Right to Information (RTI) request for ICU shift-wise duty schedules at Mumbai's St George Hospital has uncovered a startling administrative lapse, raising serious concerns about accountability in one of the city’s most critical medical departments.
Advocate Tushar Bhosale had requested routine rosters from 2024 onward, but the hospital revealed a complete absence of preserved records.
According to the Mumbai Mirror, “Although ICU duty schedules are prepared every 2 to 3 months, they are not preserved. There is no official record of which doctor was responsible for patient care on a given day. No archival rosters. No attendance logs. No trace”, revealed the RTI reply.

Hospital, ENT specialist ordered to pay Rs 10 lakh compensation for brain injury after nasal polyp surgery
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has directed a Rajasthan-based hospital and its ENT specialist to pay Rs 10 lakh compensation to a patient, who suffered a brain injury after undergoing an endoscopic nasal polyp surgery.
The Commission held that before conducting the surgery, the doctor and the hospital should have insisted on conducting a CT scan.
The history of the case goes back to 2010 when the complainant/patient was suffering from nasal problems, including discharge and obstruction, and underwent endoscopic nasal polyp surgery performed by an ENT specialist at a Udaipur-based hospital.
