The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has allowed postgraduate (PG) medical students selected for government service as Assistant Surgeons to delay their joining until they complete their ongoing PG courses. The court directed the Tamil Nadu government to extend their joining time under Section 7(5) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016, citing "special circumstances" and the need for specialist doctors in the state's healthcare system.
Justice Battu Devanand noted that the government had the discretion to extend the joining period in special circumstances, as provided under the Tamil Nadu Government Servants Act.

The wait for dates for NEET PG 2025 examis finally over! The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the date for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) Exam for the academic year 2025.
In this regard, NBE has issued a notice, announcing that the NEET PG Exam 2025 will be conducted on 15th June 2025. The notice further added that the exam will be conducted on a computer-based which will be done in 2 shifts.

The Supreme Court of India has directed five medical colleges in Jharkhand to pay a stipend of Rs 25,000 per month to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) completing their internships at these institutions.
The order, issued while hearing writ petitions filed by FMG interns, mandates that they be compensated at par with Indian Medical Graduate (MBBS) interns in accordance with the National Medical Commission (NMC) circular issued on July 12, 2023. The court also warned that failure to implement the NMC directive could lead to adverse action against the concerned medical colleges and universities.
