Doctors demand fixed duty hours, urge PM Modi to end 36-hour shifts
Citing 'inhuman shifts' which are gravely affecting the mental health and physical well-being of resident doctors across the country, the doctors are demanding strict enforcement of fixed duty hours for resident doctors by introducing a ‘Uniform Residency Scheme.'
The doctors under the umbrella of
United Doctors Front (UDF) have also submitted a letter to the Prime Minister of India requesting for proper implementation of the Directives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) Dated 05 June 1992 for fixed duty hours of resident doctors in medical colleges/Institutions under National Medical Commission (NMC).

Madras HC permits PG medicos to work as assistant surgeons Post-specialization

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has allowed postgraduate (PG) medical students selected for government service as Assistant Surgeons to delay their joining until they complete their ongoing PG courses. The court directed the Tamil Nadu government to extend their joining time under Section 7(5) of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act, 2016, citing "special circumstances" and the need for specialist doctors in the state's healthcare system.

Justice Battu Devanand noted that the government had the discretion to extend the joining period in special circumstances, as provided under the Tamil Nadu Government Servants Act.

BREAKING: NEET PG 2025 exam date declared by NBE

The wait for dates for NEET PG 2025 examis finally over! The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has announced the date for the National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) Exam for the academic year 2025.

In this regard, NBE has issued a notice, announcing that the NEET PG Exam 2025 will be conducted on 15th June 2025. The notice further added that the exam will be conducted on a computer-based which will be done in 2 shifts.

SC directs 5 Jharkhand Medical Colleges to pay Rs 25K stipend to FMG interns

The Supreme Court of India has directed five medical colleges in Jharkhand to pay a stipend of Rs 25,000 per month to Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) completing their internships at these institutions.

The order, issued while hearing writ petitions filed by FMG interns, mandates that they be compensated at par with Indian Medical Graduate (MBBS) interns in accordance with the National Medical Commission (NMC) circular issued on July 12, 2023. The court also warned that failure to implement the NMC directive could lead to adverse action against the concerned medical colleges and universities.
