Submit details of only permitted MD, MS, PG diploma seats: MCC gives deadline to medical colleges
Through a recent notification, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the DGHS, has asked all medical colleges to submit details of only those PG Medical seats for which they have received the Letter of Permission (LOP) from the National Medical Commission (NMC). The deadline for submitting the details on the MCC portal is August 20th 2022.
This notification is regarding the contribution of seats by the participating colleges of All India Quota/ Deemed & Central Universities/ ESIC Institutes for the NEET PG Counselling 2022 for MD/ MS/ Diploma and PG DNB courses.

UP consumers can't buy more than one 1 unit of cough syrup
Through a recent order, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Department of Uttar Pradesh has placed a cap on the purchase and sale of various drugs which have addictive components into it. Following the order, the consumers will no longer be able to buy more than one unit of codeine-based cough syrups in Uttar Pradesh. The same order also regulates sale of high intensity painkillers like those based on compounds like tramadol, pentazocine and buprenorphine along with anti-depressants like alprazolam, clonazepam, nitrazepam, diazepam in all strengths and combinations.

PGI Chandigarh will include yoga, ayurveda and traditional medicine in its upcoming MBBS curriculum
Following the direction of Undergraduate Medical Education Board (UGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC), the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh has recommended for the inclusion of yoga science, ayurvedic science and traditional medicine in the MBBS curriculum.
The recommendation in this regard has come from the Standing Academic Committee (SAC) of the Institute. Apart from yoga and Ayurvedic science, the Committee has also suggested for including new branches such as aviation medicine and organ transplant in the new syllabus.

Punjab: Dr Avnish Kumar gets additional charge of vice chancellor of BFUHS
Days after the Punjab Chief Minister accepted the resignation of Dr Raj Bahadur who was the vice-chancellor of Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, the state government gave the charge to Dr Avnish Kumar, director of research & medical education (DMER), Punjab on Sunday who has assumed temporary charge of vice-chancellor at the university.
The doctor has been given the additional charge of VC's post till a regular incumbent is posted. Before his posting as DMER, Dr Avinash worked as a physiology teacher at Government Rajindra Medical College and Hospital in Patiala, and as principal of the medical college. Dr Avinash has been the DMER for four years now.

Punjab: Dr Avnish Kumar gets additional charge of vice chancellor of BFUHS
50 new operation theatres, over 3000 beds: AIIMS Delhi proposes redevelopment plan to Govt
A master plan to re-develop the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) has been submitted to the government, the Director of AIIMS, Dr Randeep Guleria said on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day.
While addressing the AIIMS faculty, administrative staff and doctors, Dr Guleria said, "AIIMS Master Plan Project which aims to re-develop our infrastructure in a holistic manner by consolidating patient care, teaching research and administration, outpatient services and residential facilities has been submitted to the government."
