NEET PG 2024: MCC debars 242 aspirants for failing to join college
In response to an RTI query from health activist Vivek Pandey, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) revealed that 242 medicos will be barred from appearing in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test - Postgraduate (NEET PG 2024). These candidates failed to report to their allotted medical colleges during the special stray vacancy counseling round held the previous year. As per MCC rules, candidates who do not report to their assigned colleges forfeit a security deposit of Rs 50,000 and face debarment from subsequent entrance exams. Consequently, an amount totaling Rs 1,21,00,000 (Rs 1.21 crore) was collected from these disqualified candidates. NEET PG 2024 is scheduled for July 7th, with the MCC overseeing four rounds of counseling to allocate seats for PG medical courses. Candidates wishing to participate in the special counseling round must pay an additional fee of Rs 50,000 as a security deposit. Failure to comply with allotted college reporting deadlines results in forfeiture of this amount and potential debarment from future exams, as stipulated by MCC NEET PG counseling rules.
Ensure no beverage is sold as ‘health drink’: NCPCR
The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has raised concerns regarding the categorization of certain beverages, including Bournvita, as "health drinks." Noting the absence of a specific mention of 'health drink' in the Food Safety and Standards Act 2006, NCPCR Chief Priyank Kanoongo has urged the Department of Consumer Affairs of all states and Union Territories to ensure that such beverages are not labeled or sold under the category of health drinks in stores.
Furthermore, Kanoongo has written to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, recommending directives to e-commerce companies to remove drinks and beverages from the health drinks category on their platforms. This action comes after NCPCR took notice of reports indicating that certain powdered drinks marketed as energy boosters, including Bournvita, contain high levels of sugar and potentially harmful ingredients for children's health.
13 MBBS students accuse Dr Baba Saheb Ambedkar medical college pharmacology AP of sexual harassment
In a shocking incident, 13 female MBBS students from Delhi-based Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College have accused an Assistant Professor of Pharmacology of sexual harassment during a viva examination.
Based on the complaint by the students, a case has been registered by the police. Meanwhile, soon after the matter came to light, a demonstration was organized by women's group and the protest soon manifested as a massive Public Outrage outside the college premises. Protesters were seen holding placards denouncing the accused professor and demanding justice.

Delay in c-section results in death of patient, newborn
The matter goes back to 2016 when the patient was admitted to the treating hospital with a case of term pregnancy, without any health complications and her vitals were stable.
