NEET MDS 2024 expected to take place in March
Amid the demands from the aspirants to postpone the NEET MDS exam, official sources have informed ANI that the entrance examination for admission to postgraduate dental courses is likely to be held in the third week of March. As per the sources, the exam is likely to be conducted on March 18, 2024.
The NEET-MDS 2024 is the eligibility cum ranking examination for admission to various MDS courses for 2024-2025 admissions. It is conducted by the National Board of Examination in Medical Sciences (NBEMS)

On-duty pediatrician assaulted by goons as civil hospital runs out of rabies vaccine
In a shocking incident, an on-duty paediatrician at Margherita Civil Hospital became the victim of physical assault after a group of youths allegedly assaulted him over the treatment of a rabies patient.
Three accused were apprehended by the Margherita police, following the doctor's complaint. They were charged under the various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Health Ministry urges doctors to specify antibiotic justification in prescriptions
Now all the doctors will have to mandatorily mention the indication, reason and justification while prescribing antibiotics to their patients. The directive issued to this effect comes against the backdrop of misuse and overuse of antimicrobials amongst the public.
Issuing a letter calling for mandatory practice to write indications while prescribing anti-microbials, Dr Atul Goel, Director General of Health Services operating under the Health Ministry highlighted the urgency of the matter and appealed to all the doctors as well as the pharmacists.

17 people lose vision after cataract surgery: Gujarat HC demands government report
Taking suo motu cognisance of a media report that 17 persons lost their vision after undergoing cataract surgery at a trust-run hospital in Ahmedabad district, the Gujarat High Court has sought a report from the government by February 7.
The division bench of Justices AS Supehia and Vimal K Vyas issued notices to the secretary of state health and family welfare department and superintendent of police of Ahmedabad Rural, directing them to file a preliminary report by February 7.
