Tamil Nadu Medical Council Makes LGBTQIA+ Sensitisation Mandatory for Doctors, Medical Students
The Tamil Nadu Medical Council has made sensitisation on transgender health and LGBTQIA+ issues mandatory for all doctors, educators, and students.
All CME programmes must now include sessions on inclusive healthcare, with compliance reports due in 30 days.
According to a recent IANS report, in a move to make healthcare more inclusive, the Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has directed all doctors, educators and students in the state to undergo sensitisation programmes on transgender health, LGBTQIA+ issues and the rights and dignity of sexual minorities.

PM Modi Launches India’s Biggest Women and Child Health Drive
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi yesterday launched the 'Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar' (SNSP) Abhiyaan along with the 8th Rashtriya Poshan Maah, in Dhar, Madhya Pradesh. Dr Mohan Yadav, Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, was also present.
Union Health Minister, Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda, joined the event from Haryana, where he inaugurated multiple health camps in the presence of Chief Minister, Haryana, Shri Nayab Singh Saini and Smt. Arti Singh Rao, Health Minister, Haryana, while Union Ministers of State for Health, Shri Prataprao Jadhav, joined the occasion from the Yashwantrao Chavan Centre in Mumbai and Smt. Anupriya Patel attended the event from the Delhi Secretariat in the presence of Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta.

Gujarat Medical Education Dept Denies Stipends to FMG Interns, Sparks Controversy
Despite a 2022 directive by the National Medical Commission and a Supreme Court order favouring equal stipend, Foreign Medical Graduates (FMGs) in Gujarat who recently completed their internships are yet to receive their 12-month stipend, with the state government declining payment.
FMGs, who joined government medical colleges in 2024 and completed their training this year, said they were assured of stipends but have not received any amount after a full year of service. They have now appealed for equal treatment on par with Indian medical graduates.

‘‘Seats Cannot remain in limbo in NEET PG’’- Supreme Court Raises Concerns Over Transgender Reservation
‘The Supreme Court has expressed concerns about reserving seats for transgender candidates in the upcoming NEET-PG 2025 admissions, saying it could create uncertainty in the process.
During the hearing, Chief Justice B.R. Gavai and Justice K Vinodchandran remarked, “We cannot keep seats everywhere in limbo, you are saying two seats in the All India Quota, 2 in the state quota."
