NMC tells Delhi Medical Council, and health ministry to take action against former IMA president
Taking cognizance of a complaint against Former Indian Medical Association President Dr John Rose Austin Jayalal, alleging misuse of his position to convert patients to Christianity, the apex medical regulator, National Medical Commission (NMC) has written to Delhi Medical Council and the Health Ministry to take appropriate action.
NMC, the Apex medical body issued such directions while considering a complaint earlier filed by Legal Rights Protection Forum which had last year accused the former IMA chief for trying to "abuse his position during Covid pandemic to spread Christianity."

30 medicos of Kanpur medical college infected with acute necrotizing encephalitis, 1 in a coma
Kanpur has reported an outbreak of acute necrotizing encephalitis (ANE).
The medicos of GSVM medical college contracted this disease and more than 30 medical students are down with high grade fever.
ANE has been confirmed in seven of them.
According to official sources, the first case was reported earlier this week when a third-year student from Barabanki was brought to LLR hospital's ICU with high fever and severe headache.

Telangana health dept seizes 103 private hospitals, issues notice 633
Taking strict action against illegal health service facilities, the Health Department of Telangana has seized 103 private hospitals and issued notice to 633 hospitals.
Apart from this, among the total number of 2,058 private hospitals that had been inspected in Telangana, the State has imposed fine on 75 hospitals because they failed the inspection tests.
Issuing an order in this regard, the Director of Public Health and Family Welfare stated, "It has been brought to notice that certain hospitals, nursing homes, clinics, consultation rooms, poly clinics, diagnostic centers, physiotherapy units, dental hospitals and clinics in the state are running without registration under the Act."

10 percent TDS on free samples to doctors: pharma cos reach court, claim samples, not freebies
In the light of the setback of the recent order of the government of imposing a 10% TDS to be applicable to all free samples given to doctors, pharma companies have now knocked the doors of the Karnataka High Court.
Individual pharmaceutical companies and the Karnataka Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Association have approached the High Court of Karnataka, Claiming that samples of medicines provided to doctors do not constitute 'freebies,'. They have challenged the June 16, 2022 circular issued by the Ministry of Finance by which it was directed that pharma companies have to deduct TDS (tax deduction at source) at ten percent of the value of the free samples provided by them to medical practitioners.

Jamia student shot at an inside Holy Family Hospital in Delhi, 9 students arrested
A day after a shooting incident was reported inside the Holy Family Hospital in southeast Delhi's Jamia Nagar area, Delhi police detained six accused persons. In this incident, a Jamia Millia Islamia student was shot at and injured by another student and later admitted to AIIMS Hospital.
Around 8.50 pm, information was received regarding a quarrel at Jamia Millia Islamia university library, police said.
During the inquiry, it was found that the fight had ensued between two groups of students, a senior police officer said.
