The details regarding the seats for postgraduate courses in medical colleges and institutes for the academic year 2025-2026 were shared by NMC MARB in a public notice dated 17.12.2025.

In the notice, MARB President Dr. M K Ramesh mentioned, "The number of seats available as on 08.12.2025 in various Post-Graduate (Broad Speciality) courses in Medical Colleges/Institutions after the inclusion of seats granted on or before 8.12.2025 under the purview of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the Academic Year 2025-26 is attached for the information of all stakeholders."

Centre Approves 10,023 New Medical Seats Under Centrally Sponsored Schemes: MoS Health

The Central Government has approved 10,023 medical seats under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes across the government medical colleges from the financial year 2025-2026 to 2028-2029, the Union Minister of State for Health, Smt Anupriya Patel informed the Rajya Sabha recently.

Minister Patel also shared the details of the MBBS and PG medical seats that have increased during the last six years.

Karnataka Assembly passes Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill 2025

One of the major provisions in the bill is the introduction of a provisional registration system. Under this system, private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres will be issued a provisional registration certificate within 10 days of applying, without any inspection. The provisional registration will be valid for six months and can be renewed, but only for a limited period once government standards are notified.

India Reports 21 Percent Decline in TB Cases Since 2015, Treatment Coverage Rises to 92%: MoS Health

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) Global TB Report 2025, India has made good progress in controlling tuberculosis. The number of TB cases per lakh population declined by 21%, from 237 in 2015 to 187 in 2024, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Anupriya Patel recently informed the Rajya Sabha.

The Minister stated that during this period, treatment coverage improved significantly, from 53% to 92%, primarily due to government efforts to identify undetected TB cases and initiate treatment early. As a result, she said more TB cases are now being officially reported, increasing from 16.07 lakh in 2015 to 26.18 lakh in 2024, indicating that fewer TB cases are now going unnoticed.
