NMC directs State Medical Councils to appoint officers for taking action against quacks
Posing a threat to the sanctity of the medical profession and at the same time diabolically playing with the lives of the susceptible public, quackery is a growing menace in the country which keeps on mushrooming every after year. Under the facade of attractive advertisements and false qualifications claims, such miscreants dupe vulnerable patients, not only in their own operated joints but in renowned hospitals as well.
Hence, taking a big step towards eliminating quackery in the country, the NMC has now directed all State Medical Councils to appoint an officer who can file complaints before a court or any other authority concerned to take action against quacks.

Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital has become a centre of controversy, after a woman delivered in the open outside the gates of the hospital after allegedly being denied admission. The doctors on the other hand have pointed out that the patient who had come the evening earlier was offered admission, but she did not return with the admission papers and got admitted to the facility.
In the video doing rounds on social media, some women are seen standing around a pregnant woman with a saree, covering her during the delivery outside Safdarjung Hospital's emergency wing.

Bringing good news to the medical fraternity in India, the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has agreed to reinstitute Dr B C Roy Memorial Award, which was pending since 2019.
The confirmation regarding this has been given by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), which had requested the Centre to commence the process of conferment of this prestigious award once again.

NEET candidates demand 2nd attempt at exam
Although the National Testing Agency (NTA) successfully conducted the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) 2022 on its scheduled date on July 17, the aspirants are now demanding another attempt at the exam.
The students have referred to the lack of adequate time for preparation as the reason for this demand. Besides, they have pointed out that the JEE aspirants get two attempts at the entrance examination and asked why the same facility cannot be availed by the NEET candidates.
