No medical negligence in administering anaesthesia: Consumer Court exonerates UP hospital, Doctors
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently exonerated a UP-based hospital and its two doctors from allegations of medical negligence while administering anaesthesia to a patient before conducting a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.
Even though, the State Commission had directed them to pay a hefty compensation to the patient who lost sensation in her right leg and faced permanent disability, the Apex Consumer Court exonerated them relying on the MRI report and the expert opinion given by SGPGI.

Apollo Hospital cleared of allegations of inflating medical bills
The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Mumbai Suburban Additional recently dismissed a complaint against Apollo Spectra Hospital in Chembur for allegedly charging an inflated bill for a minor foot surgery.
Ruling in favour of the hospital, the District Consumer Court concluded that the charges were justified and also pointed out that before the surgery, the complainant had been fully informed about the surgery expenses.

Gynaecologist, Paediatric surgeon ordered to pay Rs 50 lakh for amputation of newborn's leg
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently directed two doctors belonging to two private hospitals in Patna to pay Rs 50 lakh compensation to a woman for medical negligence leading to the amputation of her newborn son's leg.
After being treated for chest infection and breathing problems, initially, the child's condition stabilized. However, soon afterwards, the complainant noted discolouration of the child's left foot. Ultimately, the newborn was transferred to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, where the leg had to be amputated.

Digital House Arrest Scam: Mumbai Medical College Dean cheated of Rs 48.28 lakh by cyber fraudsters
Amid a surge in cyber fraud cases, where doctors are increasingly targeted by online scams, a dean from a prominent medical college in Mumbai fell victim to such a scheme, losing ₹48.28 lakh to scammers who kept her under "digital house arrest.''
The fraudsters, posing as police officers, falsely claimed that her Aadhaar was linked to illegal bank accounts and pressured her for payment by threatening her with arrest.
