Google will soon help translate doctor's handwritten prescription
The giant search engine, Google aims to reduce the number of errors caused by doctors' handwritten prescriptions; Google on Monday announced an artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) model that can identify and highlight medicines within difficult-to-read handwritten prescriptions.
This will act as an assistive technology for digitizing handwritten medical documents by augmenting the humans in the loop, such as pharmacists, however no decision will be made solely based on the output provided by this technology.

Fortis Hospital doctors perform laparoscopic urinary bladder and ureter reconstruction on 48-year-old patient
Fortis Hospital, Kolkata successfully conducted India's first Laparoscopic reconstruction of the kidney tube (Ureter) and Urinary bladder (Laparoscopic augmentation cystoplasty with ileal ureter replacement) on a patient with advanced tuberculosis (TB) of the urinary tract.
Dr. R. K. Gopalakrishna, Laparoscopic Urosurgeon, Fortis Kolkata along with his team performed an extremely critical and challenging surgery on a 48-year-old patient. As per the available medical records, this is the first of its kind surgery performed in India.

New Pilot: PG doctors in Odisha to get placements based on their NEET scores
Aiming to ensure transparency in placement of Postgraduate (PG) doctors, the State Government of Odisha is arranging an online counselling on the basis of their NEET score.
This new policy, introduced by the Odisha Government, will help to determine the postings of the PG doctors and fulfill their bond conditions. Issuing a notification in this regard on December 16, 2022, the Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) department of Odisha mentioned that two merit lists will be prepared for the PG doctors- one for the direct candidates and the other one for the in-service doctors.

NPPA fixes retail price of 10 formulations, details
Through a recent notice, the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Government of India, has fixed retail prices of 10 formulations including antibiotics, antifungals, antidiabetics and others.
This came in line with the decision of 105th authority meeting dated 15.12.2022, where the Authority discussed new drug applications for price fixation under para 5 and para 15 of DPCO 2013.
