Rural, urban health training center mandatory for starting new medical college: NMC regulations
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has now made it mandatory for every hospital seeking permission to start a medical college to have rural or urban health centres affiliated to it.
According to the new NMC Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023, these health centres shall be used for internship training of MBBS students.

Submit clarification for weight-based calculated fixed dose: CDSCO panel tells J&J over Teclistamab
Based on the proposal presented by drug major Johnson & Johnson for the protocol amendment of the anticancer drug Teclistamab, the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) functional under the Central Drug Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has opined that the firm should submit clarification for a weight-based calculated fixed dose of the anticancer drug Teclistamab in light of earlier trials along with other regulatory approvals for review of the committee.

NMC guidelines put 150 MBBS seats intake cap on new medical colleges set up from next year
The recent guidelines by the National Medical Commission (NMC) have stated that the intake capacity for the new medical colleges being set up from the academic year 2024-2025 will be restricted to a maximum number of 150 MBBS seats.
NMC, the Apex medical education regulatory body, issued this clarification in the recent "Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023", which were published in the official Gazette on August 16, 2023.
