Telangana hospital, surgeon slapped compensation for negligence after patient develops compartment syndrome post fasciotomy
A city-based Private Hospital and one of its doctors were recently directed by the District Consumer Court to pay Rs 2.5 lakh compensation to a patient, who had to seek treatment at another hospital after undergoing fasciotomy at the hospital.
The patient was diagnosed with compartment syndrome at Apollo Hospital, where he had to seek further treatment. Holding the treating hospital negligent, the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC), Karimnagar directed the Renee Hospital and its doctor- Consultant Orthopaedic & Spine Surgeon to pay Rs 2.5 Lakh compensation.

NMC CBME curriculum: Suicide risk assessment now mandatory for MBBS students, psychiatrists welcome move
The MBBS students now will have to learn "Suicide Risk Assessment" as a certifiable skill as the National Medical Commission (NMC) has included the same in the Competency Based Medical Education (CBME) Curriculum 2024 guidelines.
As per the revised CBME 2024 guidelines, which were released recently, MBBS students are required to perform suicide risk assessment as it has been included in the Psychiatry syllabus. The teaching-learning method specified for learning this skill includes role play, bedside teaching etc.

NEET 2024: Many candidates excluded from counseling process
Over 80 candidates have been barred from NEET PG 2024 due to mistakes made in 2023, while 276 others are excluded from NEET UG counselling, according to letters from the Directorate of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, issued on Saturday.
A total of 81 candidates who were allotted PG seats (MD/MS) for the 2023-24 academic session under the stray vacancy round failed to take admission. The stray vacancy round is the final opportunity for candidates to secure leftover seats, available to all eligible applicants for PG courses. If candidates do not accept these seats, they often remain vacant for the entire year.
AIIMS Bhubaneswar recruitment 2024: New notification released, apply via walk-in interview
AIIMS Bhubaneswar is recruiting eligible candidates for the position of Medical Social Worker-Cum-DEO in the Medical Oncology/Hematology Department. As per the official Recruitment 2024 notification, the maximum age limit for applicants is 40 years. The selected candidate will be posted at AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Odisha.
There is one vacancy for this role, with a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 21,000. Candidates will be selected based on their performance in the walk-in interview. A Master’s Degree in Social Work or Psychology is required. Eligible applicants must attend the walk-in interview on October 8, 2024.
