Seat blocking scam in Telangana: ED raids 12 medical colleges to investigate financial irregularities
Investigating alleged seat-blocking fraud and irregularities in the financial transactions, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials on Wednesday conducted searches on 12 medical colleges in Telangana. ED searched at altogether 16 locations looking for documents and evidence.
Allegedly, some medical colleges, which are affiliated with Kaloji Narayana Rao University of Health Sciences (KNRUHS), sold the seats for higher prices by blocking them in a dubious manner last year.
IANS adds that the personnel of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) were providing security to the ED teams conducting searches at various premises. The ED officials were reportedly checking records of financial transactions at these colleges following allegations of irregularities.

AIIMS nursing officer recruitment paper leak: CBI arrests alleged mastermind
The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested the alleged mastermind behind the paper leak in a Nursing Officer Recruitment Common Entrance Test (NORCET-4) conducted by AIIMS, held on June 3.
The CBI on Thursday arrested the alleged mastermind of the paper leak in a nursing officer recruitment examination conducted by AIIMS Delhi on June 3, officials said.
Four other suspects were arrested by the agency after registering an FIR against Mohali-based Gian Jyoti Institute of Management and Technology and a person named Ritu in connection with the leak of the NORCET-4 examination paper, they said.

No negligence in treating a patient who suffered high-velocity trauma: NCDRC relief of Rs 2.9 crore to fortis hospital Delhi
Holding that it should be borne in mind that 'no cure is no negligence', the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has absolved Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, Delhi from charges of alleged medical negligence and deficiency in service, which resulted into the disability of a patient who suffered high velocity trauma and visited the facility for correction of a fracture.
The Presiding Member of the Commission, Dr S M Kantikar rejected a complaint filed against the hospital by a patient (through his guardian) who sought compensation of Rs 2.9 crore alleging that his life was ruined as his brain was damaged due to gross negligence of the hospital.
The 23-year-old patient met with a road accident in 2013 and suffered a head injury, fracture right leg, hand and his right eye. He was taken to Rohtak Medical College. The x-ray, USG abdomen and CT Head was done and it was informed that except for fracture of right arm and femur, the USG and CT was normal. On the next day, he was shifted to Fortis Hospital (OP) and kept under the supervision of two doctors of the Orthopedic Department.

Family of 77-year-old brain-dead woman donates organs, saves three lives in Delhi
The family of a 77-year-old female, who was declared brain dead at HCMCT Manipal Hospital (Dwarka) took the brave decision of donating her liver and corneas on Wednesday, 21st June 2023.
The liver was allocated by National Organ & Tissue Transplant Organization (NOTTO) and transplanted at another city hospital. Both the corneas were also retrieved by the eye bank.
Dr Shrikanth Srinivasan, Head of Critical Care, HCMCT Manipal Hospital, Dwarka said, “The patient suffered from a massive brain hemorrhage and was placed on ventilator three days ago at Manipal palam vihar. Despite the sustained efforts by a large team of doctors, her condition continued to deteriorate, and she was declared brain dead.”
