NEET UG 2026 Paper Leak Probe: CBI Arrests Pune Physics Teacher

The CBI has arrested a Pune-based Physics teacher allegedly involved in leaking NEET UG 2026 examination questions, marking another major breakthrough in the nationwide paper leak investigation. The accused was reportedly engaged by the National Testing Agency (NTA) as an expert involved in preparing the Physics paper for the May 3 examination.

According to investigators, she had complete access to the confidential Physics question papers and allegedly shared several questions with the co-accused during April 2026, weeks before the examination was conducted. Officials claim that the leaked questions later matched exactly with the actual NEET UG 2026 Physics paper sets, reports Deccan Herald.

With her arrest, the number of accused arrested in the case has risen to 11 across multiple cities, including Pune, Latur, Delhi, Jaipur, Gurugram and Nashik. Earlier, the CBI had arrested chemistry expert and biology expert, both allegedly linked to the NTA paper-setting process. Investigators claim that he conducted special coaching sessions at his Pune residence where students were allegedly dictated questions, answer options and correct responses that later matched the real exam paper. The agency now suspects a coordinated insider network operating within the confidential paper preparation system.

No Internal Breach in NEET 2026 Paper Leak, NTA Informs Parliamentary Committee Amid Probe

Members of Parliament on Thursday sharply questioned top National Testing Agency officials over the alleged NEET UG 2026 paper leak during a meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth and Sports.

According to sources, NTA Director General Abhishek Singh told the panel that the NEET paper was “not leaked through the NTA system” and said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) was probing the matter.

Doctors' Body Seeks Better Security, End to VIP Culture After GMC Jalaun Violence

Condemning the alleged brutal assault on a junior resident doctor on emergency duty at Government Medical College (GMC) Jalaun by attendants of a patient, a doctors' body has urged the Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda to take strict action to curb VIP culture in hospitals and strengthen security protocols across healthcare institutions.

Writing a letter to Minister Nadda on May 20, 2026, the Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) Doctors Association highlighted a recent unfortunate incident that occurred wherein a doctor was allegedly manhandled and threatened following demands for preferential treatment for a patient related to a political functionary.

Indian Researchers Oppose Proposed PCOS Name Change, Call it Western-Centric and Misleading

Indian medical researchers are strongly opposing a globally proposed renaming of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to “Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovarian Syndrome (PMOS)”, arguing that the move overlooks the world’s largest patient populations and reflects a Western-centric scientific approach rather than a true international consensus.

The objection was raised by Professor Mohd Ashraf Ganie, along with Prof Neena Malhotra and Prof Rakesh K. Sahay, after the proposal was published in The Lancet and presented at the European Congress of Endocrinology in Prague. The researchers argued that India and China, which together account for nearly 75 million PCOS patients, were largely excluded from the discussion despite having some of the world’s biggest research cohorts on the condition, according to Rising Kashmir.

The Indian researchers also criticised the scientific basis of the proposed name, saying it still remains overly focused on the ovaries despite evidence that many women with PCOS show normal ovarian morphology. According to Prof Ganie, the term “Polyendocrine” could create confusion with other endocrine disorders such as Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia and Autoimmune Polyglandular Syndrome, while the absence of hyperandrogenism in the name weakens clinical accuracy. Researchers further warned that India’s growing “Pre-PCOS” population, marked by metabolic abnormalities, represents a major future public health concern. They urged the global medical community to adopt a more evidence-based, organ-neutral and globally inclusive naming framework for the disorder.
