Health ministry asks NMC to reconsider its RMP regulations over generic medicines issue: Report
Prescribing generic clause is likely to lose its teeth as the Union Health Ministry has now written to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to modify the recent National Medical Commission Registered Medical Practitioner (Professional Conduct) Regulations, 2023, a recent media report by The Print has stated.
Sources in the Union Health Ministry informed The Print that the Apex Medical Commission has been asked to make changes in the regulations on various issues, including the clause involving generic drugs and the Ministry has reportedly asked the Commission to allow the doctors to at least prescribe branded medicines.

MCC NEET PG Counselling 2023 round 2 seat matrix released
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has released the seat matrix of Round 2 NEET PG Counselling 2023 indicating the number of MD, MS, PG Diploma and DNB seats available at various medical colleges for the Round 2 counselling session for this academic year's admissions.
According to 3 separate documents released on the official website of MCC, a total of 15,075 seats are in the clear vacancy seat matrix; 8,142 seats are virtually vacant and 260 PG medical seats have been newly added to the round 2 NEET PG counselling.

NMC bars prescription of anti-cancer drugs through tele-consultations by doctors
NEET PG: Students who take admission under AIQ can't vacate seats after round 2, says Supreme Court
Reiterating its previous observations, the Supreme Court bench on Monday stated that students who take admission to the All India Quota Postgraduate medical seats cannot be permitted to vacate these seats after the second round of NEET PG counselling for the AIQ seats.
While making this observation, the top court bench of Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala, and Justice Manoj Misra referred to its 2017 order in the case of Dar-Us-Slam Educational Trust v Medical Council of India.
