Fake antibiotic medicines worth Rs 17 L seized in statewide raids; 4 held
Fake antibiotic drugs worth Rs 17.5 lakh and used to treat serious diseases have been seized in raids across various cities of Gujarat and four persons apprehended in this connection, an official said on Sunday. Some of these persons worked as medical representatives of "benami" companies and used to deliver the fake medicines to doctors, the Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) said in a release.

CDSCO Drug Alert: 62 drug samples flagged
In its latest drug alert, the apex drug regulatory body, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO), has flagged 62 medicine batches for failing to qualify for a random drug sample test for the month of September.
These drug samples which are declared not of standard quality include Moxiflox-D Eye Drops, Viscoril AP, Caffeine Citrate Injection USP 60mg/3ml, Pyrazinamide-500 manufactured by Jackson Laboratories, Omeprazole Capsules IP 20 mg manufactured by Hindustan Antibiotics, Ascorbic Acid Tablets I.P. 500 mg. manufactured by ANG Lifesciences, Tobramycin Ophthalmic Solution USP 0.3% w/v manufactured by Zee Laboratories.

3 Junior doctors suspended for thrashing patient's relatives in UP's Meerut
Three junior doctors of Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College here were suspended after being booked by police for allegedly assaulting the relatives of a boy who was brought to the hospital for treatment, officials said on Tuesday.
The principal of the college has also constituted an inquiry committee to probe the matter.
The incident took place on Monday night when the five-year-old child, Kunal, was brought to the hospital after he injured one of his hands. It was alleged that four to five junior doctors thrashed the family members of the boy, Circle Officer Arvind Kumar told PTI, quoting the police complaint.

Heman Bekele, a 14-year-old ninth grader at W.T. Woodson High School in Annandale, Virginia, has developed an innovative treatment for skin cancer as part of the 3M Young Scientist Challenge. His creation, known as Melanoma Treating Soap, not only secured him first place in the competition but also earned him the grand prize of $25,000 in St. Paul.
