Two medical professionals suspended for unauthorized absence from duties in J&K
The government of Jammu and Kashmir has taken disciplinary action against two doctors due to their "unauthorized absence from their duties." Dr. Zaz and Dr. Kour, both medical officers, had taken approved leave but failed to resume their work when their leave period ended, according to officials.
Asia Healthcare Holdings acquires majority stake in AINU for Rs 600 crore
Asia Healthcare Holdings (AHH), the single speciality healthcare delivery platform, has acquired a majority stake in Asian Institute of Nephrology and Urology ( AINU ), India’s largest single specialty hospital network of Urology & Nephrology Care with a presence in four cities and pioneering work in Robotic Urology Surgery. AHH will make an investment of 600cr in the company through a mix of primary and secondary infusion.

Supreme Court states disability assessment reports should explain how PwD candidates cannot pursue MBBS course
The Supreme Court has recently stated that disabled candidates should not be excluded from the MBBS course solely based on a quantitative assessment of their disability.
Apart from this, the top court bench comprising Justices S Ravindra Bhat and Aravind Kumar observed that the Disability Assessment Report of such candidates must have cogent reasoning as to how such candidates will be unable to pursue the medical courses.

Arvind Kejriwal announces Rs 1 crore ex gratia to kin of 17 Covid warriors
The Delhi Government will give an ex gratia compensation of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 17 employees who lost their lives during the COVID-19 duty.
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday approved an ex gratia amount of Rs 1 crore each to the families of 17 employees who died in the line of COVID-19 duty.
“The Delhi government salutes such workers who have served relentlessly the citizens of Delhi. There is no compensation for anyone’s life, but I am hopeful that this financial assistance will provide some ease to their families,” Kejriwal was quoted as saying in an official statement.

Dr BN Gangadhar takes charge as Officiating Chairman NMC
The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has now appointed the president of the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) Dr. B.N.Gangadhar as the Officiating Chairman of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for a period of three months.
This decision has been taken by the Ministry as the tenure of the current chairman Dr. Suresh Chandra Sharma ends on 24.09.2023. Dr. Sharma was appointed as the Chairman of NMC when the Commission replaced the erstwhile Medical Council of India. He was appointed for a period of three years. Previously, Professor Sharma worked as the Chief of Delhi AIIMS' ENT head-neck surgery department.
