NMC warning: Doctors to face punitive action for displaying unrecognised qualifications
Writing to the State Medical Councils, the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) recently warned about the use of fake/unrecognized qualifications by doctors and asked the State Medical Bodies to spread awareness about the NMC regulations in this regard especially in respect of the punitive action that the doctors may face for this reason.

Respiratory medicine, Emergency medicine, PMR depts no longer mandatory to start new medical colleges, doctors question move
Doctors and faculties in medical colleges across the country are worried over the recent decision of the National Medical Commission (NMC) to remove three departments including Respiratory Medicine from the mandatory list of undergraduate medical education or MBBS course.
According to the "Guidelines for Under Graduate Courses under Establishment of New Medical Institutions, Starting of New Medical Courses, Increase of Seats for Existing Courses & Assessment and Rating Regulations, 2023", which were notified on August 16, 2023, three departments- Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR), Respiratory Medicine, and Emergency Medicine are not included in the list of departments that every medical college/institution must have for being approved for undergraduate medical admissions on annual basis.

Drug Safety Alert: Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission reveals ADR linked to contraceptive drug Levonorgestrel
The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), through its recently issued drug safety alert for the month of August, has revealed that Levonorgestrel, a synthetic progestogen popularly used in contraception and hormone therapy is linked with Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) named Deep Vein Thrombosis.
This came after a preliminary analysis of Adverse Drug Reactions (ADRs) from the Pharmacovigilance Programme of India (PvPI) database.
