Medical officer suffers nose fracture after attack by mob of more than 100 people at Tripura Hospital
In yet another instance of mob attack on a medical professional, an on-duty doctor at Kanika Memorial Primary Health Centre at Singirbil in Kailashahar became a subject of alleged violence and assault by an angry mob of more than 100 people who brutally thrashed the doctor and vandalised the hospital property and an ambulance.
The hospital service was closed soon after the incident while police were deployed to de-escalate tension. However, police launched an investigation into the incident after registering a case, but nobody has been arrested yet.

Faculty shortage in Himachal Medical Colleges: NMC's biometric attendance Rule Escalates Health Dept's Problem
Shimla: With the National Medical Commission's direction for strict implementation of biometric attendance in medical colleges, the problem of faculty shortage in the medical colleges of Himachal Pradesh has escalated further.
The State Health Department has been struggling to ensure the required faculty at the new medical colleges at Chamba, Hamirpur, Nahan, and Mandi. Now, the requirement of biometric attendance has put an end to the stop-gap arrangement made during the inspections.

Child suffers cerebral palsy, epilepsy with west syndrome, doctors qualifications in question: Delhi HC seeks response to Fortis, Govt, DGHS
Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh, the Delhi government and the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) office have been issued notice by the Delhi High Court seeking their response in a medical negligence case, wherein a five-year-old who was treated by two senior doctors working as child specialists/ super-specialist in the facility allegedly concealed facts about birth injury. It was alleged that due to delay in proper treatment, the child's brain got completely damaged and he got paralysed both mentally and physically.
In its June 14 order, a single-judge bench of Justice Jasmeet Singh issued notice to the hospital and authorities.
The court was hearing a petition filed by the mother of a patient, alleging that the private hospital deliberately concealed his birth injury and deprived him of timely treatment.

Surgeon not liable for recurrence of HCC in transplanted liver: Rs 5 crore relief to Medanta, its doctor in medical negligence case
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has exonerated a Liver Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgeon, Medanta Institute of Liver Transplantation and Regenerative Medicine, and Medanta The Medicity, Gurgaon against a complaint of negligence in treating a liver cancer patient. It was alleged that the surgeon never removed the cancer cells, it spread to the spine and subsequently, the patient died.
Dr S M Kantikar, Presiding Member, NCDRC clarified that it was a case of recurrence of Hepatocellular Carcinoma (HCC) and not due to any residual tumour, for which the surgeon was not liable.
