NTA Exam Reforms: Nandan Nilekani-Led Panel Consults K Radhakrishnan
The Nandan Nilekani-led High-Powered Task Force on exam reforms has consulted the Radhakrishnan Committee chairman as it reviews measures to strengthen the National Testing Agency’s examination system. Set up in July after the NEET paper leak controversy, the seven-member task force is consulting students, parents, teachers, academic institutions, subject experts, industry bodies and examination authorities. The panel is examining examination processes and is expected to recommend reforms aimed at making the system more secure, transparent, reliable and technology-driven. Its report is yet to be submitted.
The Radhakrishnan Committee, constituted in June 2024 following the NEET paper leak, submitted its recommendations in October that year. It made 101 recommendations covering examination security, data protection and the functioning of NTA, including safeguards for question papers, candidate registration, admit cards, computer-based testing, OMR processing and results. A separate High Powered Steering Committee was later formed to monitor implementation. The earlier panel had also recommended restructuring NTA and conducting NEET in phases using computer-based or hybrid modes. The Centre has since announced that NEET will move to computer-based testing from next year, according to a Careers360 report.
NEET PG 2026 Evaluation Sparks Transparency Debate, Doctors' Body Raises Security Concerns
Amid concerns raised by NEET PG 2026 candidates over alleged discrepancies between their expected and actual scores, doctors have called for greater transparency in the examination and evaluation process.
The concerns emerged after the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) declared the NEET PG 2026 result on September 24. Medical Dialogues had reported that several candidates on social media platform X claimed that their actual scores do not match the number of correct answers they calculated based on question recall. This also includes claims of discrepancies of nearly 100 marks between their expected and actual scores.

NEET UG 2026: Guardianship Certificate Not Needed for Candidates Above 18 Seeking NRI Quota, Delhi HC Observes
In a recent ruling, the Delhi High Court prima facie held that the requirement of producing a legal guardianship certificate does not apply to NEET-UG candidates seeking admission under the NRI category if they have already attained the age of 18 years.
A Delhi HC bench of Justice Jasmeet Singh observed that the requirement of such a certificate under the Guardians and Wards Act, 1890 is applicable only to the minor children and persons taking care of minors.

Medical Fraternity Cannot be Attacked: Supreme Court Stays Bail Granted to Shiv Sena Corporator
Observing that the medical fraternity cannot be attacked, the Supreme Court today (September 28, 2026) stayed the Bombay High Court order granting bail to a Shiv Sena corporator, who is accused of assaulting doctors at a Kalyan-based municipal hospital in Thane district.
"The message should go out loud and clear that the medical fraternity cannot be touched. They serve people and cannot be attacked in this manner," observed the Apex Court bench of Justices Vikram Nath and Sandeep Mehta, and directed the accused to surrender within three days.
