HC seeks Delhi Govt clarification on shortfall of Hospital Expenditure
The Delhi High Court on Monday asked the city government to ensure that all medical equipment in its hospitals are functional and explain the ''apparent'' drop in its expenditure on hospitals.
A bench headed by Acting Chief Justice Manmohan, who was hearing a PIL initiated by the high court on its own in 2017 concerning the issue of non-availability of ICU beds and ventilator facility in government hospitals here, asked the health secretary of the Delhi government to join the proceedings on Wednesday.

Medical Negligence: NCDRC imposes Rs 25 lakh compensation on Doctor, Nursing Home
The National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) recently slapped Rs 25 Lakh Compensation on a Kolkata-based doctor and private nursing home for medical negligence while conducting a Hysterectomy on a patient, who died after undergoing the procedure.
It was observed by the Apex consumer court that the patient was subjected to surgery without ascertaining the other options and also without following the preoperative stage and the process of blood transfusion

Dr RK Dhiman, SGPGIMS Director wins Padma Shri in Medicine
Dr. Radha Krishnan Dhiman is one of the recipients of Padma Shri awardees this year in the field of Medicine. He is known for his various contributions including the eradication of Hepatitis C in 22 districts of Punjab, Covid management in Lucknow, and starting organ donation campaign by setting up SOTTO.
Currently, he is working as the Professor of Hepatology and Director at Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS) Lucknow. He also holds the post of Director at Kalyan Singh Super-Specialty Cancer Institute, Lucknow, India. While he has been serving as the SGPGIMS Director since 2020, he got the additional charge of Kalyan Singh Super-Specialty Cancer Institute on 17th September 2021.
Speaking to Medical Dialogues, Dr. Dhiman said, "I feel really honoured and I personally feel that this award is conferred to the teamwork," Dr. Dhiman told Medical Dialogues.
