Australian scientists uncover parasitic worm lodged in woman's brain

In a groundbreaking revelation made on Tuesday, an Australian scientist shared details of a unique discovery wherein a parasitic worm measuring 8 cm (approximately 3 inches) was detected within the brain of a woman in Canberra. The parasite species is known to scientists as Ophidascaris robertsi.

Relaxing assistant professor norms for non-teaching specialists in new medical colleges contravenes TEQ rules: NMC

While considering a request seeking one-time relaxation of the norms for the appointment of non-teaching consultants or specialists as Assistant Professors in a newly set up medical college, the Postgraduate Medical Education Board (PGMEB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) denied the same as it opined that it would be in contravention of the provisions of the TEQ-2022.

NMC PG Board clarified its opinion in this regard in the minutes of the meeting held by the PGMEB earlier this year, a copy of which is with Medical Dialogues team.

Girl, who was saved by AIIMS Delhi doctors on flight, in ‘critical stage’

A 14-month-old infant, who was rescued by a team of medical professionals from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) New Delhi during a Vistara flight from Bengaluru to Delhi, is currently in a critical condition. The baby is being kept on a ventilator and is receiving multiple life-saving medications at a hospital in Nagpur, Maharashtra.

Unregistered hospital, BAMS duty doctor giving allopathy treatment: NCDRC upholds criminal negligence

Asserting that the BAMS doctor has acted recklessly and his actions constitute an act of criminal negligence, while the Director of a Delhi-based hospital, running in violation of Delhi Nursing Home Regulation Act, was found guilty of professional misconduct and medical negligence, as concluded by the Delhi Medical Council (DMC); the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (NCDRC) has upheld the concurrent findings of medical negligence on the part of the two doctors and the said hospital by the State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, Delhi and District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum, Shekh Sarai, Delhi.
