8 doctors, including 2 radiologists under probe in Rs 90 crore silicosis X-Ray scam
A major scam has been unveiled in Rajasthan, where doctors were found to be involved in helping individuals pretending to be suffering from silicosis get financial assistance from the government. Taking cognisance of the matter, the Health Department has already recommended to ACB to take action against 6 doctors, 6 radiographers and 2 radiologists in Dausa district.
According to the Dainik Bhaskar report, the amount of the fraud is estimated to be around Rs 90 crore, out of which 436 ineligible persons were granted a total of Rs 13.08 crore, whereas the payment of Rs 77 crore 67 lakh has been stopped towards 2589 individuals.

Parliamentary Panel warns of antibiotic overuse, calls for AMR curriculum overhaul
Taking cognisance of the overuse of antibiotics leading to Anti-microbial resistance in people, a Parliamentary Health Committee has recommended making "suitable interventions" in the medical education curriculum to spread awareness among doctors on the ill effects of overuse of antibiotics.
The Department-reated Parliamentary Standing Committee on Health and Family Welfare recommended in its one hundred sixty third report on demands for grants 2025-2026 of the Health Department that immediate steps were required to control the trend of overuse of antibiotics as long-term effects of the drug resistance will ultimately cripple the health of the citizens of the country.

NMC announces extension for medical colleges to submit NEET PG 2024 admission Details
The National Medical Commission (NMC) will extend the last date for online filling of information regarding admissions made to Medical Colleges through National Eligibility and Entrance Test-Postgraduate (NEET PG) 2024 for the academic year 2024-25.
As per the public notice issued in this regard, the admission monitoring portal is currently undergoing updates and maintenance and will be made available to Medical Colleges/ Institutions to fill in the requisite details at a later date, which will be duly communicated through an official notice. However, the last date to fill in the information was scheduled till 07 April 2025

8-Month-Old Dies After Swallowing Balloon, Denied Treatment by Many Hospitals
In a tragic incident, an 8-month-old baby boy lost his life due to prolonged oxygen deprivation after accidentally swallowing a balloon in Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri. The family sought treatment at multiple hospitals before the infant was finally referred to Shivpuri Medical College.
As per a Free Press Journal news report, the child was struggling to breathe as the balloon got stuck in his windpipe, causing him to choke. Due to this, the child was out of oxygen for a long time
