Overview
Is the field of obstetrics and gynecology a good field for budding doctors to specialise in?
As we know medical sector has many important specialties, and obstetrics and gynaecology (OBGYN) is one of them. Obstetrics and Gynaecology is indeed considered a demanding field with unpredictable working hours and little social life.
Having said that this specialization has evolved very dynamically over the years and has become most popular not only among female medical aspirants but also among male aspirants.
A medical student's decision to pursue a profession in obstetrics and gynaecology is influenced by a variety of circumstances, which reveals several distinct areas where the genders differ significantly, particularly in terms of lifestyle difficulties and practice trends.
Many of the OBGYN passouts are also moving towards super specialty courses. Having a super specialty after PG in OBGYN is also advantageous for doctors because it advances their professional development in addition to their career.
In today's health perspective episode, Dr. Tripti Sharan (MS, FICOG, PGDHHM, PGDMLS), an associate director of obstetrics and gynaecology at BLK MAX Hospital in New Delhi, joins us to provide additional context on this medical specialty.
