Delhi Reports 3,000 Influenza Cases, CM Calls for Emergency Meeting - Video

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh on Tuesday said Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has called an emergency review meeting amid a rise in influenza cases in the national capital. He said Delhi has reported around 3,000 influenza cases this year, including 2,308 H1N1 infections. He made the remarks after a review meeting with senior officials from the Health Department, MCD, NDMC and Delhi Cantonment Board. The minister said the situation remains under control, with adequate doctors, staff and medicines available across hospitals. He added that the review focused on preparedness for H1N1, or seasonal influenza, as well as vector-borne diseases, according to an NDTV report.

Furthermore, he said there was no need for panic and assured that patients were receiving treatment. Isolation wards have been created in every hospital, and action would be taken if patients reported being denied beds. H1N1, commonly known as swine flu, can cause fever, cough, sore throat, headache, body aches and fatigue. People experiencing persistent high fever, breathing difficulty, chest pain, confusion or worsening symptoms should seek medical attention promptly.
