Doctors Body Seeks Review of 'Suryaa Ant Se Aarambh Tak' Over Violence Against Medical Professionals - Video
Overview
The Indian Medical Association (IMA) has written to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, seeking an urgent review of the upcoming Sunny Deol-starrer Suryaa-Ant Se Aarambh Tak over its portrayal of doctors and violence against healthcare workers. The association expressed concerns about the film's teaser, released on October 19, alleging that it generalises corruption in healthcare and depicts physical assaults on medical professionals. IMA warned that such portrayals could encourage hostility towards doctors, damage the reputation of the medical fraternity and weaken public trust in healthcare services.
The association emphasised that scenes presenting attacks on doctors, nurses and hospital staff as heroic or justified could normalise violence against healthcare workers. While acknowledging that medical misconduct must be investigated and punished, IMA stressed that the actions of a few should not tarnish the entire profession. It urged the ministry to review the film, seek corrective measures and consider a ban or other action if legally justified, NDTV reported.
