While considering the pleas by disabled postgraduate medical aspirants challenging the Medical Board's decision of declaring them 'unfit' for admission, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has directed the National Medical Commission (NMC) to ensure the creation an Appellate Medical Body to address disputes related to disability certificates for medical admissions.
"National Medical Commission is, hereby, directed to ensure the creation of Appellate Medical Body, so that instances of such cases do not arise in future," the HC bench comprising Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Justice Sudhir Singh ordered.
Through a recent notice, the Uttar Pradesh Director General of Medical Education (UPDGME) has given a deadline to all the candidates who want to resign from their allotted seats they secured in Round 1 or Round 2 NEET PG Counselling 2024.
In its notice, the Candidates admitted through the first/second round of counselling under UP NEET PG-2024 are informed that if they want to resign from their admitted seat, then such interested candidates can resign 02 days before the choice filling of third round of counselling i.e. till 2:00 PM on 25.01.2025.

The West Bengal government has filed an appeal against the life imprisonment sentence given to Sanjay Roy in the RG Kar rape and murder case. In response, the Calcutta High Court announced on Wednesday that it would hear the CBI, the victim's family, and the convict before deciding whether to admit the government's appeal.
The high court said it will hear the matter on January 27.

In the recently released Draft Teachers Eligibility Qualifications (TEQ) 2024 Regulations, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has proposed providing an exemption to doctors having pursued their postgraduate medical education from five English-speaking countries (United Kingdom, United States of America, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand) to undergo the mandatory Senior Residentship to join as faculties in medical colleges.
According to the existing norms, doctors must undergo one year of Senior Residency to be eligible to join the medical colleges as Assistant Professors. However, NMC has proposed granting an exemption in this regard to the PG medical graduates from UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
