India Intensifies Screening at Airports Amid Suspected Ebola Cases - Video

India has intensified airport screening, traveller monitoring and quarantine protocols after suspected Ebola cases were reported in Bengaluru and Gujarat, although health authorities have confirmed that no Ebola infection has been detected in the country so far. A 28-year-old Ugandan woman isolated in Bengaluru over suspected Ebola symptoms has tested negative, providing relief amid concerns over the ongoing outbreak in parts of Africa.

Officials said Airport Health Organisation teams are directly monitoring passengers arriving from affected countries and even travellers with mild symptoms such as headache are being isolated as a precaution. Samples are being sent to the National Institute of Virology for testing, according to TOI.

Meanwhile, authorities in Gujarat are awaiting test results of a 37-year-old man who reportedly travelled from Africa and Bangladesh before arriving in Vadodara via Mumbai. The man developed fever, cough and cold symptoms and was shifted to an isolation ward after his travel history emerged during screening. Health officials said the patient, his two associates and a doctor who treated him have been placed under observation. The Union Health Ministry stated that surveillance at airports and hospitals has been intensified and all screening, testing and quarantine measures are being carried out according to WHO guidelines.
