Amid the massive controversy surrounding the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak and cancellation of the examination, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar sharply criticised the Centre, calling the incident a “great shame on India” and accusing the government of failing students and parents across the country.

Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said the paper leak had damaged India’s global image in education and created anger and uncertainty among lakhs of aspirants. He questioned why Union ministers and Members of Parliament had remained silent despite the seriousness of the issue, adding that opposition-ruled states would have faced severe criticism if such an incident had occurred under their administration.
