NEET 2026 Paper Leak: CBI Arrests Chemistry Professor From Pune - Video
Overview
The CBI has arrested a retired chemistry professor from Latur, Maharashtra, identifying him as a key accused in the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case that led to the cancellation of the nationwide medical entrance exam. According to the agency, the professor, who had earlier served on the National Testing Agency's (NTA) question-setting panel, allegedly leaked the paper before the May 3 examination and conducted secret coaching sessions for selected students in Pune. Investigators claimed he dictated questions, answer options, and correct responses during these sessions, with handwritten notes later matching the actual NEET paper.
The arrest has intensified scrutiny over the internal security mechanisms of the NTA and the role of insiders in the leak. CBI officials said the accused initially tried to sell the paper locally before expanding the network through intermediaries. The agency is now probing other individuals associated with question-setting and has questioned coaching institute operators in Maharashtra. Another accused allegedly received money through 21 bank accounts before the exam. So far, eight people have been arrested in the case.
